Making homemade whipped cream is simple and delicious, and only requires three ingredients!
One of the things we’re working on in our health journey is eating REAL FOOD. That doesn’t mean that all food we put into our bodies would be labeled “healthy”, but that we’ll choose to make things at home instead of buying them in the store when possible.
My latest obsession? Homemade whipped cream. SO simple to make, SO incredibly delicious!
Making homemade whipped cream:
All you’re going to need is a handheld mixer and three simple ingredients. No fancy kitchen tools = my favorite kind of recipe!
Here’s the trick for making whipped cream: you have to keep it very COLD and beat on HIGH speed.
If you can remember that, you’ll make the perfect whipped cream every time!
I learned that freezing your bowl AND the beaters for your mixer is the true trick for keeping things really cold. If you stick your bowl and beaters in the freezer for a solid 20 minutes before you beat your cream, then it will turn out beautifully.
Easy homemade whipped cream
Ingredients
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 TBSP sugar you can also use honey or maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
Instructions
-
Place mixing bowl and beaters in freezer for at least 20 minutes.
-
Combine ingredients in chilled bowl. Whisk on HIGH speed until it starts turning to the consistency of whipped cream.
-
Do NOT overbeat, or it will turn into butter.
Have fun adding this delicious whipped cream to your next homemade dessert – we love it on homemade lemon cream pie, in homemade strawberry shortcake, or just over fresh berries! And you can rest assured that it will be a healthier alternative to the store bought varieties.
