I wish I was a person who made homemade condiments for every meal. I know of people who make their own mayonnaise, ketchup, ranch dressing, etc. I’m just not one of those people! BUT this enchilada sauce? SO simple and budget friendly – I haven’t bought canned enchilada sauce in years! Chances are, you already have the ingredients on hand in your kitchen too.

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 TBSP flour
- 3 TBSP chili powder
- 8 oz crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup chicken broth (or water)
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1 TBSP minced garlic
- 1 tsp onion powder
- salt & pepper to taste
Instructions

Heat the olive oil in a saucepan on medium heat.

Add the flour and chili powder - stir for about one minute

Add the crushed tomatoes, broth (or water) and the rest of the spices. Stir well and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes until thickened.

Taste for seasoning and adjust with salt and pepper as needed.
